![]() This is why you see tanks lead the dmg done in 5 mans sometimes, because they charge in and the dps has to wait a sec to start dpsing. Also, if you don't "start" dpsing right away, your doing less dmg done, and exaggerating your dps number. If you blow your cool downs and stop doing any dmg, whether it be by evocating, getting dc'd, going afk, conserving mana, w/e, you will have a grossly exaggerated dps number. So here is the difference between the two, damage done is exactly what it states, the dmg you do to the boss+adds, etc (obviously this is what determines your worth, aside from following the strat, etc). I couldn't care less about the size of my E-peen, I just feel a certain need to educate people because it upsets me to see the majority of wow players are ignorant people. The mage and many people argue that I'm just jealous and don't know what I'm talking about. Boss dies, mage post the "DPS" in raid, i tell him, "Nice dps, but FYI dps isn't anything you should care about, it's dmg done". The reason mages typically are higher on the dps chart and less on the dmg done is because of Evocate / mana issues. Then there is a mage who did 9.2k dps but did 400,000k dmg less then me. A typical example would be me on my shaman doing 8k dps, topping the dmg done by lets say 400,000k. What really grinds my gears though is when people, particularly mages who post the DPS, not dmg done, after a boss fight. I know that almost everyone these days has recount so I don't have to post it even if I am dominating the charts over people who were shit talking about their dps all raid. I do not like to gloat or post meters after every boss. To me the repetitive nature of running daily heroics on my 4 characters would get REALLY boring if it wasn't for mods like recount so i can min/max my gear and experiment with talents abilities to always to try better my dps / hps. From my experience playing wow I have found that about 1/2 the people who play do not understand the difference between dps and dmg done. I encourage some people to read this as a form of education. ![]()
